After a leaked roster of Injustice 2 surfaced recently, developers NetherRealm Studios have finally revealed the next DC character joining the game.
The latest addition to the cast of Injustice 2 is none other than Robin. However, those hoping for the return of Dick Grayson might be a bit disappointed since this is Damian Wayne’s version of Robin.
A livestream held yesterday announced the inclusion of Robin to the game’s roster along with a new gameplay trailer showing his fighting abilities.
Robin in Injustice 2 will be armed with a Katana instead of a Bo staff although he will still continue to use various gadgets as is the case with all members of the Batman family.
The ending of Injustice: Gods Among Us had Robin getting arrested after serving as a part of Superman’s tyrannical reign so it is unclear as to how exactly is he roaming free in Injustice 2 and why has he once again taken up the mantle of Robin.
It is possible that Damian has no suddenly grown a conscience and feels bad for causing the death of Dick Grayson in the previous game.
A story trailer for Injustice 2 was released last week finally giving fans a hint of who the new villain is going to be in the game as well as indications of the new alliances and disputes in Injustice 2.
NetherRealm Studios has also announced the various special editions of the game alongside bonus character skins for those who decide to pre order the superhero fighting game.
There is also a season pass included in those special editions which means post launch DLC for the game is already planned, possibly even for story mode.
Injustice 2 is scheduled for a May 16th release on PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version is not announced as of yet but will undoubtedly be in the pipeline.
