Rek’Sai is the next League of Legends champion that will be receiving a mini-rework in the coming weeks, Riot Games confirmed.
Responding to a recent thread on the official forums, lead gameplay designer Riot Meddler revealed that the Void Burrower is losing some of her tank-attributes. The champion is being adjusted towards tower-diving and players will find it rewarding to build attack damage.
Additionally, W (Burrow/Unburrow) is being changed to a single-target knock-up. Currently, Rek’Sai is able to knock-up all surrounding enemies upon bursting out of the ground. It’s an extremely useful tool for the champion. The shift towards a single-target knock-up is a major nerf and something that players will be woeful about.
“Focus of that update’s on shifting her [Rek’Sai] more towards diver and less tank (so more rewards for building AD, W likely shifting to single target knockup so less of her power’s there etc),” he said.
There’s no telling to when the update is scheduled to arrive. According to the developer, her “work’s showing promise” but there’s still some time before her mini-rework is finalized. Based on that, it’s unlikely that Rek’Sai will be part of the next update. Perhaps February’s patch will include the Void Burrower.
Rek’Sai is one of the most popular jungle picks in professional League of Legends right now. She registered a 100 percent involvement in the drafting phase of IEM Gyeonggi last month, where she was picked 24 times out of 26 games and banned twice. We’re only through the first week of the Spring Split of League Championship Series (LCS) and Rek’Sai is always brought up in the drafting phase.
