While Capcom is one of the many third-party developers that is a partner of Nintendo and has pledged to bring games to the new hybrid console it seems that Resident Evil 7 will not be one of those games. People might have been very excited about Resident Evil coming to Nintendo Switch after seeing Capcom on the list of partners but that is simply not the case.
According to producer Masachika Kawata:
“I think it’s a very unique piece of hardware, I’m looking forward to the possibilities of the system itself, but we have no plans at the moment regarding Resident Evil on Switch.”
This could be a nice way of saying that although Nintendo Switch is a new offering in the market and it is something interesting and different it is still under-powered to handle such a demanding AAA game.
So if you thought that there was going to be a Resident Evil 7 game on the Nintendo Switch and you would be able to play it in VR then that is not going to happen. Not anytime soon at least.
The Nintendo Switch is not for AAA titles I would say and it is something that people will use to fill in the gaps between their busy lives. You do not need such heavy duty AAA titles for that. If you could get that then that would be awesome but I think that tech is still years from betting that level of performance in a handheld device.
Less than 15 days to launch and we are still getting more and more information about the device. We will be seeing the response of the people on launch day. Let’s see what kind of response the people give the product. There is a lot of hype surrounding the product and I for one am very excited about it.
