The Division is one of the most popular franchises for Ubisoft which is surprising given the game launched last year. However, the studio has been working on adapting the game into a movie for some time and now The Division movie has found its director.
The Division movie will be directed by Oscar-winner Stephan Gaghan whose credits includes the critically acclaimed Syriana.
The movie will also feature Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain as lead characters. Gyllenhaal will not only star in The Division movie but he will also produce the movie himself. Ubisoft is still looking for a writer to whom they can entrust the responsibility of creating a script.
The silver screen adaptation will follow the story of the game very closely. The movie will focus on a military unit trying to find a cure for the disease that has nearly destroyed New York.
This is not going to be the first Ubisoft game being adapted into a movie as Prince Of Persia Sand of Time released in 2010 and Assassins’ Creed movie is the latest effort from Ubisoft to make its way into the movie market.
Also, a Gears of War movie is also in the works as The Coalition’s studio head, Rod Fergusson has announced that The Coalition has partnered with Universal Studios to make the movie based on the best-selling game franchise.
Gears Of War movie will be produced by Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films. However, details like who will be directing and the writers were not specified, also the release window for Gears Of War movie is currently unknown.
While it is good to see that an Oscar winner director will be directing the movie, however, Assassin’s Creed movie also had an A-list cast but the movie still could not break the mediocre movie based on video game curse.
Do you think that The Division movie will be able to break this curse? Let us know in the comments.
