The registration for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 beta has opened today for PC platforms, coming only a few weeks before the beta officially starts on February 3. The game will be releasing on April 4 of this year for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The beta will include two missions.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a bit of a departure from the previous Sniper: Ghost Warrior games, namely being open-world instead of mission-based and putting the player in the role of just one sniper, rather than multiple ones. In the game’s story, a civil war has broken out in the Caucasus country of Georgia, turning into a proxy war between the separatist forces backed by Russia, and the legitimate government of Georgia supported by the United States. The player is dropped into the middle of it, and must undertake various missions.
In the Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 beta, players will undertake the missions “Blockout” and “Cut Off”, each with different mission objectives. In “Cut Off”, players will have to infiltrate a separatist-held antenna array in order to gain access to the satellite system. In the other mission, “Blockout”, players will have to hunt down a war criminal that’s part of the Georgian Separatist forces.
The Sniper: Ghost Warrior series has normally prided itself on being one of the most realistic sniping simulators to date. Players have to keep in mind their noise levels, their location, the wind direction, weather, gravity, breathing, and flight time, so players will have to make sure that their shots are aimed perfectly to account for everything and take their target down with one shot.
Considering that the other two Sniper: Ghost Warrior games have gotten either mixed or negative reviews, hopefully the Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 beta will be well-received enough that the actual game ends up getting positive reviews when it comes out so that the studio can have something more than simple niche success.
