A new Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Double Xp weekend has gone live today, and will continue to be live until Monday, January 16. The weekend is an event that regularly happens to allow players to progress in rank and experience faster than they normally would in the game’s multiplayer.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been getting multiple events like these since its release, mainly to attempt to bring some life into the multiplayer, which has been criticized for appearing bland and with nothing new happening in it.
And even with the game’s first DLC pack around three weeks old now, there hasn’t been any real indication that traffic in the game’s multiplayer has been increasing.
While Activision anticipated this (and so bundled Infinite Warfare with the remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with no option to buy them separately), it doesn’t appear that the game has gotten any increase in popularity beyond those few that still play it.
While the Infinite Warfare Double XP weekend may bring back a few players, it may not give the multiplayer any more staying power.
Infinite Warfare is possibly the most polarizing Call of Duty game due to the extreme amount of dislikes that its reveal trailer received (making it the third-most disliked video on YouTube), as many fans of the series weren’t happy with the fact that the game was going even farther into the future, rather than taking a step back into the past (many players even said they would have liked a return to World War 2).
However, if you’re one of those fans that is actually excited about the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare double XP weekend, you’ll have a whole weekend to play it. The XP weekend will be ending at 10 AM on Monday, January 16, so you’d best get to work.
