According to game’s producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi, Super Mario Odyssey is considerably finished. Fans would have loved to have Super Mario Odyssey as part of the launch lineup but at least we are getting an open world Mario game, the wait will be worth it.

The launch lineup is weak with the only notable title being The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, Nintendo’s stretagy is to spread the content across the entire year.

A lot is riding on the success on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo would need to keep the momentum going beyond the first year. According to analyst Micheal Patcher:

While Nintendo clearly relies upon the unique gameplay offered by the new device, it will need to convince a large audience that its newest device is more substance than gimmick in order to drive better long-term adoption than the Wii U saw.

Sales beyond the first year will be affected by third party software support; the underpowered Switch is unlikely to attract much

Nintendo Switch is releasing on March 3 for $299.
