The Microsoft Hololens is a cool device that we are all excited about but even though Microsoft claims that there are organizations that have been using this tech for daily activities for some time now but we have not seen much when it comes to consumer use of the Hololens. Here you can see Gears of War 4 running on a virtual monitor in augmented reality on the Hololens.
I have to say that the concept is really cool and I like the idea of playing a game in virtual space but I did notice that there are instances where the game seems to lag a bit and that seemed to be causing aiming problems for the gamer in question here.
Of course, when it comes to wireless technology there are bound to be some limitations. The Gears of War 4 stream we see here is powered by an Xbox One S. While that does all the processing the game is wireless but there is a lag due to slow internet speed.
The problem of streaming a game from some other device is that if you have fast internet then it is great but when the internet is down or not up to the mark then that will break immersion and the game will lag.
When it comes to gaming no one like lag. This, however, could be a work in progress and we might see something in the future that will make the experience better for slower internet connections but there is no getting around the fact that you will need fast internet in order to enjoy this kind of setup.
Hololens is something great and I for one am excited about this and this Gear of War footage taken on the Hololens gives us an idea of what this tech has to offer.
