It’s official: THQ Nordic will team up with Microsoft and 343 Industries for the Halo Wars 2 retail PC versions. Players will be able to choose among the Standard and the Ultimate Edition, receiving a special code to unlock the game on Xbox One after the purchase.
If you’re interested in it, the Standard Edition only includes the game, while the Ultimate Edition contains the digital version of the game, Season Pass, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, plus early access to the game before its release.
“After working on so many titles together with Microsoft in 2016, we are stoked to start the year with another partnership. Being able to deliver such a big franchise to RTS and Halo fans alike, the opportunity to buy and own this game in a beautiful physical shape is something we appreciate a lot.” – Lars Wingefors, founder & Group CEO of THQ Nordic
“For fans who love to own the box, we’re excited to partner with THQ Nordic and bring Halo Wars 2 to physical release on Windows 10,” stated 343 Industries Studio Head of Strategy Games Development Dan Ayoub. “THQ Nordic has been great to work with and we look forward to the game’s release on Feb. 21, 2017.”
However, according to Executive Producer David Nicholson it wasn’t a struggle to develop the game for console and PC.
He said that the team simply started with the idea of making a proper RTS gaming, following their concept and the feedback they received from the players through the first game and the beta. Everything was then built upon that.
Halo Wars 2 Retail Ultimate Edition is scheduled to release on February 17, 2017, while the Retail Standard Edition will launch on February 21, 2017.
