While Bungie has released all expansions for their widely popular first-person shooter, Destiny, the studio still has some plans for its player base. While Activision has confirmed that Destiny 2 is in development and many are assuming that Bungie will be busy on the sequel but the studio have something else in mind.
Bungie has revealed that the first “This Week at Bungie” blog post will not reveal much but next week on January 12 a proper reveal will be made. The studio further added that they won’t be able to make any major reveals but they have planned a year worth of content for players.
We won’t be ready for any major reveals, but we’ll resume the conversation about the rituals that return to Destiny week over week and month over month,” Bungie said. “Thank you for joining us for another trip around the sun. We have a year of adventure planned for you.
Despite the devs will be focusing to roll out content for Destiny the development of Destiny 2 will not be affected. During a recent earning’s call for Activision, CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed that Destiny 2 is on track for release in fall 2017 and further added that the developers are looking to appeal not only the existing fans but to widen its audience.
We’re on track and excited about what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017.the sequel is designed to excite both our highly engaged current players, but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back old fans as well.
Destiny is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Also. there are rumors that the sequel will launch for PC alongside current gen consoles.
