Nintendo promised that there will be news regarding its new gaming machine in January and the company is keeping its promise. Nintendo Switch presentation is dated!
According to the announcement made earlier, Nintendo Switch presentation is being held on January 12 and January 13 in Tokyo. The company will cover a number of different topics during the presentation. We are expecting a detailed discussion about Nintendo Switch specs and what they console is capable of.
Pre-orders for the console are live on in different regions including Italy and United Kingdom’s GameStop websites. The price of the device is yet to be announced by Nintendo but the mentioned pre-order price doesn’t look like a placeholder. It seems Nintendo may actually try and sell Nintendo Switch for €399.98/€499.99.
However, nothing is official for the time being.
The company needs to be very careful while pricing its new machine. Nintendo Switch needs a decent install base in order to keep publisher support at its doorstep. Otherwise, we are looking at a Wii U 2.0 here.
An analyst recently made a very interesting comment, saying that Nintendo Switch aka Nintendo NX’s failure means Nintendo may have move out of the hardware business.
According to Serkan Toto, a Tokyo-based game consultant, that is indeed the most viable option for Nintendo if NX fails or only sees moderate success.
Another flop in launching new hardware should be a sign that Nintendo is better off providing its rich game title franchises to smartphones, Sony and Microsoft.
Nintendo Switch is releasing sometime in March, a release date is expected to be announced during the presentation later this month. A hands-on event is also set for January 14-15.
