Yesterday, we discussed upcoming exclusive games for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both platforms have a decent amount of games scheduled to release this year. We will let you decide who won the battle of exclusive in 2016 but one thing is for sure, the war is certainly not over.
Battle of exclusives will continue this year: PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One. What do both platforms have to offer? What is in their arsenal? Today, we answer the question.
PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One Exclusives
PlayStation 4 Exclusives
Gravity Rush 2
The first game was one of the best experiences we had and it helped generate a cult following for this unique title. The sequel, Gravity Rush 2, is releasing later this month on PlayStation 4. It is the very first PlayStation 4 exclusive to release this year and will be available through the PlayStation Store.
Dark Souls mixed with The Witcher, this is Nioh! We are going to visit an ancient Japan infested with demons. Any given enemy is more than capable of slicing your brains out if you are not careful with your actions. Nioh is the second major PlayStation 4 exclusive for 2017 and is releasing in February.
What can we say about Persona games? They are freaky and sometimes it is hard to wrap your head around the things that go on in the game. However, it is an exhilarating experience. Now, we are waiting for the 5th installment of Persona. It is releasing next month.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Another release set for February 2017; Guerilla Games is releasing Zero Dawn on PlayStation 4 on February 28. You are transported to a post-apocalyptic world where machines have taken over. Lead character, Aloy, is looking for answers about what happened to the world and what is her role. Horizon is probably the most anticipated PlayStation 4 game of 2017.
Ninja Theory has been working on Hellblade for a long time and finally, we will get to play it in 2017. It is aiming to change the way AAA games are developed. It is a low-budget AAA title which looks absolutely beautiful.
Developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, Nier: Automata is upcoming action role playing title for PlayStation 4. It is set in the same universe as Nier and it one of the most anticipated games of 2017.
Xbox One Exclusives
Halo Wars 2
Microsoft will kick-off the year with one of the biggest IPs in the world, Halo. Halo Wars 2 is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs next month. The RTS title will follow the release of Halo 5, a somewhat mediocre entry into the Halo universe. However, Halo Wars 2 is a very different project but 343i needs to nail this one right.
Nostalgia at its best; Cuphead does not look like a game at all. It looks like a cartoon from the 1930s due to its art style. You are the lead character and have made a deal with the devil. You need to pay your debt by defeating bosses for the devil. Pretty dark plot for such a cute game.
Scalebound is probably the biggest project Platinum has worked on but the studio consists of very talented members. Microsoft is backing the project and has put the studio in charge of Scalebound. Scalebound is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
State of Decay 2
One of the best zombie games on Xbox 360 was State of Decay. E3 2016 brought a surprise reveal of its sequel and we saw the unveiling of State of Decay 2. The IP is Microsoft’s crown jewel and rumor has it that it might also arrive on Project Scorpio. The game still has a release date missing but we should hear something soon.
Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves is the return of Rare, one of the most iconic studios in the industry. Microsoft acquired it a long time ago but the company never made any use of the talents this studio has to offer, until now! Sea of Thieve is a console seller.
Expected in holiday 2017, Crackdown 3 is probably the most anticipated Xbox One game. The development has been rocky and developers were quite for a while. However, 2017 may finally be the year of Crackdown 3.
