According to a new rumor that’s come out from Nintendo insider Laura Kate Dale, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is going to be a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, and will be available for a year exclusively on the Switch before it releases on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Dale is a reputable insider for a wide variety of different gaming information leaks, including putting out highly accurate information about the Playstation 4 Slim, the stripped-down version of the Playstation 4. Dale has also been making a series of accurate predictions about the Nintendo Switch, and how many more of those are correct will be things we’ll be seeing when the Switch is revealed officially on January 12.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 wouldn’t be the first game that would come out for timed exclusivity on a Nintendo console, either. Ubisoft’s previous original property on the Wii U, called ZombiU (a zombie survival game where you, as the player, has to escape a zombie-infested London with a cure), was a game exclusive on the Wii U for several years before the game was released onto Xbox One and Playstation 4, retitled Zombi.
Considering that ZombiU didn’t sell very well for Ubisoft (despite getting rather positive reviews), whatever persuaded them to put Beyond Good And Evil 2 on the Switch might have been good, whether the possibility of far better sales on the sequel to a time-honored classic or the possibility of a new console bringing in more sales, remains to be seen.
Either way, whether Beyond Good and Evil 2 comes out on the Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive or not is something that we’ll have to wait until the Nintendo Switch event on January 12 begins. However, if it does turn out that a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil is going to be coming out for the Switch, then Ubisoft may be off to a good start with the Switch’s third-party lineup.
