Launched back in June 2014, the game released as a subscription-based MMORPG – kind of like World of Warcraft. However, the publisher decided to change to model to free-to-play in September 2015.
The game is currently only available on PC. Carbine Studios reportedly considered console versions back in 2013, but decided to focus entirely on the PC version of the game.
Last time we heard about the console versions was at the end of 2015. According to the game’s Product Director, Mike Donatelli, the developer has not entirely ruled out the possibility of a console version i.e. PS4/XB1.
Donatelli said that with an increased number of MMO transitioning to consoles being successful, looking at console market seems to make a lot of sense.
We have seen many MMOs who have made that transition to console being successful. So I think it would be safe to say, without saying too much, that, for any successful MMO who is looking to expand their business, looking at the console seems to make a lot of sense.
