Several professional League of Legends players have begun picking ADC Ziggs for their bottom lane compositions. This includes former Dignitas member and full-time popular streamer Michael “Imaqtpie” Santana, as well as Team SoloMid member Yiliang “Doublelift” Peter Peng.
ADC Ziggs, with his hyperactive personality and chaotic bombs, is seemingly an answer to the debate of how irrelevant the role has become. The Hexplosives Expert brings something new to the table, forcing both sides to pick interesting support champions to assist and counter the yordle.
Ziggs’ kit allows him to clear waves and push opponents into their towers. The regular use of his Short Fuse passive is annoying enough, but it’s his ability to execute towers that make ADC Ziggs a threat.
You can never afford to leave him alone in the lane. His Bouncing Bombs clear waves in an instant while Satchel Charge blows away enemy towers. Furthermore, his Mega Inferno Bomb is always going to be a crucial part of any team fight. It also allows Ziggs to assist mid-lane allies without having to leave his bottom lane for too long.
Responding to a thread on the official boards urging the developer to let him be, game systems designer Riot Axes stated that the team is well aware of the new Ziggs trend. However, a discussion on the champion is yet to happen. As it is, if he is found to be too overbearing in the bottom lane then he’s obviously going to be nerfed in the near future.
The designer also added that Riot Games has been “tweaking rules to open up tower killing to more classes for a while”. He quote examples of placing armor and magic resistance values to towers, expressing hopes of seeing “something like this” eventually happen.
With ADC Ziggs out in the wild, what other mages do you think can also follow suit?
