Microsft turned a lot of heads with the reveal of its most powerful console, Xbox One Scorpio. While the console will pack in 6 TFLOPs of computational power but many are concerned about Xbox One Scorpio price.
Due to Xbox One Scorpio being a premium console many are expecting that the console will be priced very high. However, Phil Spencer has assured that they are not trying to compete with high-end PCs and Xbox One Scorpio will be priced according to console price point.
According to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, Xbox One Scorpio price will be $399. He further added that even this might not be low enough as Sony might discount its PS4 Pro when Xbox One launches and Microsoft has to price its console competitively.
This might not be low enough, particularly if PS4 Pro drops before holiday 2017, but Microsoft has to price competitively or fall farther behind.
Xbox One Scorpio price has been the main concern among the consumers and the industry analysts have already warned that the only thing that will cause the console’s demise is its price.
According to Michael Goodman, director of digital media strategies at Strategy Analytics, Microsoft has played it brilliantly as there is nothing Sony can do or say about Xbox One Scorpio that it is not powerful.
Goodman further added that the only thing that would kick Xbox One Scorpio out of the market will be its price, and Microsoft has quite some time before they announce it.
The only thing they could do is price themselves out of the market. [Microsoft] doesn’t have to announce that for quite some time.
