The January Games With Gold games, the monthly set of games that will be available for free for Xbox One, have finally been revealed by Microsoft.
Once January starts they will replace the currently available Games With Gold games, which will then go back to their regular pricing.
December’s Games With Gold games included Outlast, the first-person survival horror game made by Red Hook (which is going to be getting a sequel sometime next year) and Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for the Xbox One.
The Xbox 360 side of the deal got Outland and the racing game Burnout: Paradise. With a number of either critically acclaimed or very positively reviewed games coming, can January beat December?
Half of the January Games With Gold games are somewhat more obscure: the Xbox One will be getting World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap and Killer Instinct: Season 2 Ultra Edition. While World of Van Helsing is a spin-off of the regular Van Helsing series that focuses on tower defense, Killer Instinct allows you to get one of the best fighting games currently on the market with a lot of its content available for free.
On the Xbox 360 side we have The Cave, a puzzle game that focuses around seven different people forced to confront the darker sides of their personalities inside of a sentient cave.
On the opposite end of that we have the critically acclaimed action platformer Rayman: Origins, which came out a few years ago and, despite not doing as well as hoped for Ubisoft, still got a lot of good reviews. If you’re interested in it along with the Xbox One games, you can even get Rayman for free as well since it’s on both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.
If you’re waiting for something in February to tide you over, like For Honor or some other upcoming release, and aren’t getting a game that will tide you over from Christmas until then, you can download one of the January Games with Gold games in order to keep you occupied until then.
