According to an image posted by the game’s director Neil Druckmann, it looks like The Last of Us Part 2 might be heading into motion capture.
The said image shows Ashley Johnson who plays Ellie in the upcoming game. The team is in the mo-cap room with Johnson holding the mo-cap knife that she used during the original game’s motion capture sessions.

Ellie’s knife was a big part of the original instalment and it is good to see that Ellie managed to stick with it after all these years:

There is not much we know about The Last of Us Part 2 right now. We do, however, know that the game will feature Ellie as a playable character. We also know that the game takes place a few years after the events of the original game – exactly how many years remains to be seen.
As for the game’s release window, I have my bets on 2018 at the least. During its reveal on Playstation Experience, Sony explicitly said that the game is ‘super early’ in development so it is unwise to expect an imminent release window.
The Last of Us Part 2 is scheduled to release exclusively on Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro.
