Rise of the Tomb Raider patch 1.06 has been released for the Playstation 4 version of the game, aiming to fix a number of bugs that came with the game’s last patch, 1.05, which came out back in early November. These bugs included frame rate issues and some minor bug fixes for the game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was originally a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, being announced at E3 2014 before releasing back in 2015. It got fairly good reviews, which seemed to continue as it was ported over to the Playstation 4. However, the port did have a number of technical issues, such as the frame rate problems and other small bugs that Rise of the Tomb Raider patch 1.06 is supposed to be fixing.
Rise of the Tomb Raider has come to the Playstation 4 just in time to get a large number of its DLC either on the disk or soon after it was ported, such as the Baba Yega DLC and, especially, the Lara’s Nightmare DLC, where Lara has the run of her family’s ancestral manor as she fights against hordes of undead in a bit of a departure (maybe?) from the rest of the series.
While the issues that Rise of the Tomb Raider patch 1.06 is supposed to be fixing are fairly minor, they can still be important enough for many people to put them off playing the game, especially in matters of frame rate. However, it seems to be working so far; many people are already noticing the change in how the game runs, so it’s likely the patch was a good idea in the long run. Hopefully it won’t break anything else.
However it turns out, Playstation 4 players of Rise of the Tomb Raider can download the patch today and start playing it, hopefully with less bugs and frame rate issues.
