What’s The Future Of The Super Mario Franchise?

The Super Mario franchise is growing year by year and now, with Super Mario Run releasing on December 15, this series could reach an even higher level.

The future of Mario was discussed by creator Shigeru Miyamoto during a recent interview with Apple, whose words can be found below.

It’s impossible to know the future. I don’t know what’s going to happen in five years; I don’t even know if I’ll be alive in five years! But I’m fine. Years ago, somebody made a character popularity poll, and we found out Mario had become more popular than Mickey Mouse. And it’s funny since Mickey Mouse has been around for 40 years, while Mario has only been around for three. The future of Mario depends on what kind of technology I come across. I’ll try to partner that technology to Mario and create something new.

What’s going to happen to the Super Mario franchise?

However, Super Mario Run could be a major hit worldwide according to some analysts.

App Annie, the mobile analytics resource, recently published an interesting article about it.

According to their report, reveal at an Apple press event was a really important step in terms of marketing. The partnership between Nintendo and Apple seems very strong, as Super Mario Run has been the most promoted game ever on the Apple Store.

Furthermore, this game is releasing across 151 countries and, even if it’s a paid app, the cost won’t affect sales, even thanks to the Holiday Season.

Super Mario Run is releasing on December 15, 2016 for iOS. An Android version is coming soon.
