Team Gates originally planned to gather a group of talented and hungry individuals to storm the next League of Legends Challenger Series qualifiers. As such, the organization announced earlier today that it has bought its way into the 2017 Spring Split of the Challenger Series by purchasing the spot of Team Nova. Incidentally, Nova too bought its spot from Team Ember in April this year.

There’s no word on the team’s final roster. Currently, only South Korean Seungmin “Strompest” Lee is confirmed to be playing mid-lane under the Team Gates banner. The young lad looks promising and has the potential to grow into a formidable player in the future. His talents were recently recognized by Riot Games in the Scouting Grounds event.
As for the rest of the team, it’s likely that the organization is still going through possible candidates.
Last month, popular League of Legends streamer Tim “Trick2g” Foley announced Team Gates as a new team aiming to get into the North American League Championship Series (NA LCS). The initial goal was to start from the bottom and play the next League of Legends Challenger Series qualifiers for an entry into the main circuit. Purchasing Team Nova’s spot relinquishes the the first phase of the plan. Team Gates now needs to focus on performing in the Challenger Series and get itself on the main stage of NA LCS.
“Preach the Breach” is the team’s slogan, inciting that the organization is interested in new talent that can “show these old, washed up LCS players how it’s done.” Trick2g confirmed last month that anyone above Master Tier 400 LP is welcome to try for the team.
