Before we start just want to make it clear that this is just my opinion not all of you are going to agree. So, don’t take it too seriously.
Without further ado lets begin with our list of Resident Evil games you should play before Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil Games You Should Play Before Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil Zero:
Resident Evil Zero is a prequel to the first Resident Evil and as video game prequels go this one ranks among the best ones. The events of the game take place a night before the mansion incident depicting the downfall of the Bravo team.
The Story is told with an incredible visual flair and recently the game got an HD remaster on current-gen consoles. However, not everything about this game was great as the choice to remove item boxes didn’t sit well the fans.
Resident Evil Revelations:
Resident Evil Revelations was originally released for Nintendo 3DS and was considered as one of the best exclusives on the system. The game eventually came out for PC and consoles. The game combined action from Resident Evil 5 with the classic Resident Evil gameplay.
The game saw the return of the fan favorite Jill Valentine as a playable character since Resident Evil 3. However, there were some elements of the game that held it from achieving its full potential.
The original Resident Evil was an instant hit and made some huge waves back in 1996 when it was launched. This is the game that introduced the fans to Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker and took the horror survival genre to a whole new level.
However, the game was not without its flaws and while some were bothered by the game’s cheesy dialogue and bad acting but some looked past it and found the hidden gem the game truly is. This game also got an HD remake.
Resident Evil 5:
Resident Evil 5 is a guilty pleasure of mine. This game has more action in it then what purist fans would prefer but still it is a very enjoyable game and this game also brought co-op to the franchise.
The game has earned a lot of praise for its co-op mode, but the inconsistent AI companion makes certain sections of the game a chore to play.If you are a fan of action games and want some horror element then Resident Evil 5 might appeal to you.
Resident Evil Revelations 2:
Capcom made an incredible comeback after the disaster what Resident Evil 6 was with Resident Evil Revelations 2. The game came back to its horror survival roots and still keeping some action in between.
However, the game struggled in some areas like its episodic format which caused the pacing issues but nonetheless Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a great game which knows its balance between horror and action.
Resident Evil 2:
The first Resident Evil game brought the survival horror genre to the map but it was Resident Evil 2 that brought it to a new level. Aside from great graphics and much more refined controls the game also had much more in the way of replayability, with unlockable mini-games.
These improvements made Resident Evil 2 one of the best-selling games in the series and is hailed as one of the best Resident Evil games.
Resident Evil 4:
Resident Evil 4 was the first game that brought the action to the series but did not lose its sight of the franchise’s horror roots. The game features intense atmosphere and plenty of scary moments.
Resident Evil 4 also reinvented the gameplay for the franchise. However, this game did not come without its own problems like no proper control scheme for PC or the mouse support. But Capcom has fixed this problem with HD remasters.
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis:
Resident Evil 3 was the last Resident Evil game to launch for PlayStation 1. The game is set before the events of Resident Evil 2. The game brought Jill Valentine back as the protagonist trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.
The scariest thing about this game is the Nemesis that could appear randomly, this nearly-invincible monstrosity had the ability to use human weaponry which made him a bigger threat.
There you have it, this our list of Resident Evil games you should play before Resident Evil 7.
