Even if their movies aren’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like the X Men and the Fantastic Four might be Marvel vs Capcom Infinite DLC characters when the game releases late next year. The news came from an insider that had previously leaked the fighting game’s existence before its announcement at PSX.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was only announced at the Playstation Experience this past weekend, but we’ve been getting a lot of news out of it regardless. And considering that for a long time we’ve only had four of the most well-known X-Men (Magneto, Wolverine, Storm, and Jean Grey as Phoenix) and only one member of the Fantastic 4 cast (Dr. Doom) be a part of the Marvel vs Capcom series, adding a few more with DLC characters is likely long overdue.
Considering how many other X-Men and Fantastic Four characters there are, there are a good number of others that could serve as good Marvel vs Capcom Infinite DLC characters: The Thing, the Human Torch, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and a lot more.
Becoming Marvel vs Capcom Infinite DLC characters is likely the best way that both the X-Men and the Fantastic 4 can have some redemption; while the X-Men received some redemption with the new trilogy of movies, it’s been a while since they’ve had much more of a spotlight. Fantastic Four’s outright awful movie reboot last year has also likely killed any chance of it getting another movie for years to come.
In the meantime, the fighting game community will have to be waiting for around another year before the game actually comes out, though in the months until then it’s likely that Capcom will be revealing all of the different characters that players will be able to use when the game actually comes out. As for DLC…that’s something they’ll have to wait even longer for.
