Not too long ago, we talked about aggressive monetization models being applied to AAA games. Sometimes they don’t make any sense and do nothing but dent the game’s reputation.
Just recently, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided added something called Pressix Points. The publisher added Praxis Kits and Credits to make the game super easy but what’s odd is that all items are one-time use only. You are paying for something you can not use during your second or third playthrough of the game.
Such models need to be scrapped in favor consumer friendly practices but we don’t think that will happen anytime soon. For now, all we can do is suffer lame business practices, the latest example being Dead Rising 4. Its true ending could be locked behind a paywall.
Dead Rising games had “Overtime Mode” that unlocks after you get the best ending of the game. However, the “Overtime Mode” is locked behind paywall and many fans who played the game can confirm that the current ending is not the “true” ending.
The overtime mode and the true ending is apparently locked behind a paywall. The paid DLC is coming out next year that will add the “Overtime Mode.” Dead Rising 4 developer Capcom is yet to offer a comment so we can’t say for sure what exactly are their plans here.
Dead Rising 4 True Ending being locked behind a paywall will not sit well with the community at all. Dead Rising 4 is available on Xbox One and PC.
What do you think of the paid DLC offering Dead Rising 4 true ending?
