3DS is still going strong, even if Nintendo Switch release is around the corner. In fact, 3DS software sales hit 100 million in Japan since this console’s launch, five years ago.

This is an incredible result, already reached by great consoles like Nintendo DS and Sony’s PlayStation 2.

One of the element that has helped 3DS success to grow is the recent release of Pokémon Sun and Moon, that have sold something like 2 million of copies in the first three days in Japan.

Besides 3DS software sales, fans were afraid that Nintendo could have stopped developing 3DS games after Nintendo Switch release, but it seems there’s nothing to be afraid of.

Tatsumi Kimishima, the CEO of Nintendo, has stressed the fact that company will keep developing games for 3DS, and will keep going well into 2017.

Nintendo is still supporting this console because some of its main brands are on handheld console, moreover, there are still some big games coming to this console such as Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World, Ever Oasis, and Pikmin.

Surely, Nintendo couldn’t have discontinued 3DS games development since Pokémon Sun and Moon, revolutionary games for the brand, were about to release.

There are also a lot of people who keep playing on 3DS.
