Terry Crews Really Wants To Be The Voice Of Overwatch’s Doomfist
Actor and former football player Terry Crews is having another one of those weird moments where despite being a big star, he’s just like the rest of us. In this case, he’s such a big fan of Blizzard’s first person team shooter Overwatch that he really wants to voice the possibly upcoming character Doomfist.
In addition to being a football player for the Los Angeles (formerly Saint Louis) Rams, the San Diego Chargers, and the Washington Redskins, Terry Crews has been in a number of different commercials and shows, most famous as one of the two black men that normally star in Old Spice commercials (alongside Isaiah Mustafa) and as Terry Jeffords from the comedy TV show Brooklyn Nine Nine.
Terry Crews’s acting experience seems to mainly be focused on characters that are whacky or at least pretty silly, considering how insane most of his Old Spice commercials were and how he acts as Jeffords in Brooklyn Nine Nine. If he is selected as Doomfist after all, however, there remains the problem of exactly how his character would be played.
Considering that Doomfist may have been an enemy of Overwatch much like Widowmaker, Reaper, and Sombra, the possibility of a wacky character on that sort of team might be disconcerting to many people, or would take away from how serious Talon is supposed to be. On the other hand, considering that Terry Crews can likely be very scary if he wants to, he would probably be able to play a completely serious and frightening Doomfist.
Either way, whether or not Blizzard intends to bring in Doomfist as a character remains to be seen, and whether or not Terry Crews is even picked to voice him is another matter. Either way, we’ll just have to wait and see how Blizzard works Doomfist into the game beyond a bunch of posters.
