Halo Studio Head Leaving 343 Industries To Work On Independent Games

343 Industries head Josh Holmes is leaving the studio after working seven years. In a blog post, the developer announced that he would be leaving the studio and pursue the independent game development.

I have loved every moment here on Halo but I find myself drawn to new horizons. This month I’m leaving 343 Industries and excited for my next adventure to pursue independent game development.

However, he did not detail any specifics about his new project that whether or not he would be starting his own studio or working for another one.

Chris Lee, who was the head of production at the studio, will be filling his place and according to Holmes himself “Chris has played a key role in the studio since our inception. He is a tremendous leader and Halo is in great hands with him”.

Lee also stated that he is excited for the future of the Halo franchise and revealed that the studio will soon be revealing new details about free content coming soon for Halo 5: Forge.

343 Industries’ general manager, Bonnie Ross, added that Josh Holmes has been an “instrumental leader” for the halo franchise is his seven years working at the studio. “I wanted to thank him for everything he has done for us and the Halo franchise, and I wish him the best of luck on his next adventure”.

The next Halo games in the franchise is Halo Wars 2 which is in development at 343 Industries in corporation with Creative Assembly.

Halo Wars 2 is an RTS game and is scheduled to launch on February 21, 2017 for PC and Xbox One.
