According to the video game news website Let’sPlayVideoGames, a new rumor has started up that new Super Smash Bros Amiibos are going to be coming sometime after the Nintendo Switch console, bringing in Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7, and Bayonetta from Platinum Games’s famous character action duology of video games.
Nintendo has released hundreds of amiibos since their reveal in 2014, which has taken off into a near craze as Nintendo fans spend hundreds of dollars collecting the toys, which can be used with the Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS in order to work with their games in various capacities.
In the new Super Smash Bros games, Amiibos are used as a sort of training dummy or a computer-controlled character, which you can make fight and gain experience up to level 50, which can make it a good match for many human players.
According to LPVG, the new Super Smash Bros Amiibos will be coming out before the launch of the Nintendo Switch, which is supposed to be coming out sometime in March. While we don’t know if the Switch will have the Wii U version of the Super Smash Bros game on it, with the success of the amiibo Nintendo will likely end up continuing for a long time, especially since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also coming with amiibos.
Other things before the Switch was announced included leaked patent information about the possibility of a new Amiibo scanner, which is likely to be something along the lines of the “Joycon” controller parts that will be attaching to the portable version of the Nintendo Switch’s detachable screen.
Either way, we’ll have to wait until next year to see when the new Super Smash Bros amiibos come out, especially if they release along with the Switch or sometime after it.
