Metro 2035 Will Not Release Next Year, According To Publisher

A few days ago, the official website for the Metro 2035 book, the final part of the book series, revealed that the next Metro game will be releasing in 2017. Turns out it was just someone being over enthusiastic while writing content for the website.

According to Deep Silver, publishers of the Metro game franchise, while the company does have plans to expand the universe created by the books and will most probably be making a game for Metro 2035, they don’t have any plans to release a new Metro game next year.

As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series. But just to manage our fans’ expectations – releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them.

When we have more news to share, we will. Thank you for your patience.

Although the developer 4A Games will undoubtedly be working on a new game, especially since both the previous Metro games; Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light were well received as well as their Redux versions, there is no evidence to suggest the company is ready to release another game within a year.

The Metro game franchise takes place in a post-apocalyptic world with players taking control of the protagonist Artyom, a part of the Order of Rangers, designated to safeguard whatever is left of humanity against mutants.

The franchise is well known for its atmospheric gameplay, world and lore buildup as well as design choices.

Both the previously released Metro games don’t exactly follow the storyline from the books and are more of a spinoff so it is safe to assume the 3rd game, even if based on the 3rd and final book Metro 2035, will be loosely based.

The first two Metro books are available in English now while Metro 2035, having released in 2015 will get an official English launch on 10th December.
