The launch for PlayStation 4 Pro is just around the corner, and the PS4 Pro VS Xbox One Scorpio debate is again starting to heat up. Industry analysts have already noted that Microsoft will have to be careful with the price for its upcoming console, and Micheal Patcher has also shared his opinion.
Speaking with GamingBolt, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter talked about the price for Xbox One Scorpio. According to Patcher, it would be a suicide if Microsoft decides that the price for the console will be more than $399.
Well, I think Microsoft would commit suicide if it was more than $399. And the problem they will face is if they launched it at $399, the PS4 Pro might discount to $349 in the same week. So I’d be really surprised if the Scorpio was more than $399.
He further added that given Microsoft’s history for pricing its console, it is somewhat likely the company might price the console a bit higher, and we can only hope that they won’t make the same mistake again that they did with Xbox One.
I was really surprised when the Xbox One launched at $499 with Kinect, and it took them a while to unbundle Kinect and drop the price. So Microsoft has not executed well this cycle as far as pricing goes. Just as Sony executed poorly with the PS3’s pricing. So Microsoft’s playing catchup, and I’m hopeful that they don’t make the same mistake with Scorpio that they did with the Xbox One.
Micheal Patcher has been quite vocal for these past couple of months about the ups and downs in the industry. It has become a common knowledge that PlayStation 4 Pro lacks the blue-ray 4K drive, and community is not happy about it. However, according to Patcher no one cares about 4K UHD Drive.
Microsoft will certainly have to tread carefully, since PlayStation 4 Pro launches in less than a week and probably will be discounted by the time Xbox One Scorpio comes out.
Do you think Microsoft should cut a little bit on Xbox One Scorpio’s power to match the price? Let us know in the comments.
