Let’s face it; Red Dead Redemption was an amazing game. Its story, graphics, and characters made it one of the most popular games of 2010 and beyond. However, now a Red Dead Redemption 2 graphics comparison video released on YouTube has shown how much the sequel improved graphics-wise, from what we saw in the trailer.
The first official trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 came out two weeks ago, sparking off a great amount of excitement from all of the game’s many fans, who can’t wait to see how the game has been improved on in its sequel. The Red Dead Redemption 2 graphics video has addressed at least one of those concerns, showing off how the game’s new engine will look when compared with the first game’s.
The original Red Dead Redemption was developed on an engine called RAGE, the “Rockstar Advanced Game Engine”. For context, this is the same engine that ran Grand Theft Auto 4, Max Payne 3, and Grand Theft Auto 5. While Grand Theft Auto 5 was a good-looking game in its own right even with the three-year gap between Red Dead Redemption and it, hopefully Red Dead Redemption 2 will make the game look even better than GTA 5.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 graphics comparison video shows off how much better the lighting and environments look over the first game’s, with the lighting actually casting more noticeable shadows, god-rays coming through, and the night sky looking like it’s more than just all of the world’s colors darkened to simulate night like the first game was.
The comparison video specifically shows off how RDR 2 looks compared to the original Red Dead Redemption being played on a Playstation 3, but just because the trailer seems to use game footage doesn’t mean that it will actually look that good.
Either way we’ll have to just sit and wait until fall of next year in order to see how the game’s graphics actually look compared to the first game’s.
