Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the most anticipated games to release next year, and the hype for the game is going very strong. Developer Guerrilla Games have been revealing new details about the game from time to time, this time they have released a new trailer showcasing the machines.
The trailer showcases the behind the scenes struggle of the developers for creating unique machines in the game, which can be found in the world as the machines have taken over it. Studio boss Hermen Hulst, Game Director Mathijs de Jonge, and Art Director Jan-Bart van Beek describe how the machines evolved from initial concepts to become the predators in the final product.
While the Horizon Zero Dawn is an open world action RPG, but the developers did not planned it as a RPG from the start. According to Mathis de Jonge, the developers did wanted to make the game open world but did not intended to develop a RPG from the start but it happened organically during the course of the development.
We’ve been working at this concept from a development point of view- what works well for this game? What works for this concept? And then we’ve added these features. We haven’t said from the start that this will be an RPG, and it needs to have these features- it never happened like that. It was always decided that we would move from the conceptual point of view, an [go by] what works best for the game.
Recently, the developers also revealed that Horizon Zero Dawn RPG elements will not be deep, which makes sense given that the game was not developed as an RPG.
Horizon Zero Dawn is scheduled to launch on February 28, 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
