Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Tips Guide

Our Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Tips and Strategies should help you get to the very final wave in the game mode.

Must Have Classes

It is recommended that you have a well-balanced team – with enough firepower and utility. When it comes to classes, you need to have Engineer Class and Scout Class.

Engineer Class in the game is the only class that is capable of repairing fortifications. In addition to this, if you let the player running Engineer Class place all the fortifications, you should be able to get additional HP and discounted prices.

Scout Class, on the other hand, essentially revolves around gathering power and information. In case you do not know, power is basically the core of Gears of War 4 Horde Mode; you need to do almost everything in this mode.

Scout Class basically have perks which let the player running it accumulate additional power among other benefits.

Get Weapons Lockers

Weapons Lockers allow you to store weapons inside depending upon the Fabricator Level. Not only you get to store powerful weapons for bosses, but also get replenished ammo. You basically need to safe weapons like Torque Bows, Boomshot, Mulcher, etc. to gain an upper hand on enemy forces.

Getting them should also help players who do not have the best accuracy in the world and often find themselves running out of ammunition in the middle of a fight.

Deploy Turrets

Turrets require players to operate them but can deal a significant amount of damage. With a turret, you should be able to complete waves without any difficulty.

However, remember that Level 1 and Level 2 turrets are pretty fragile and expensive to get. Therefore, you must protect them at all costs as well as keep them stocked with ammunition. This goes in line with our earlier suggestion of having Engineer Class on your team. The Engineer Class cannot only repair and replenish ammo o the turrets but also get them at discounted prices with higher HP than normal.

Collecting Power

You get a little window to collect all the remaining power before the next wave begins, but there is an easier way of doing it. Instead of rushing to different places, you can simply leave one weak enemy alive and collect all the power available on the map before killing it.

Protect Your Flanks

Protecting your flanks is one of the key elements in Gears of War 4. There are fortifications that can help you achieve that! Moreover, you can position these fortifications in such a way that they strengthen each other and are tough to be destroyed.

For instance, your decoys and barriers which attract and slow enemies should be overlooked by turrets and sentries. In this way, you should be able to kill these slowed/distracted enemies before they have a chance to destroy these fortifications.

With that being said, you need to avoid wandering alone and stick with your team – especially at higher rounds. In this way, you should be able to look after each other’s backs and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

The Fabricator and Fortifications

At the start of the game, you need to grab the Fabricator and place it in a secure location. Once placed, you need to start accumulating power and max out the Fabricator as soon as possible to get the best possible fortifications and weapons from it. When it comes to fortifications, here are all the fortifications you can get:

  • Barriers – These slow/stop enemy progress and should be placed at choke points
  • Decoys – These attract the attention of enemies so that you can mow them down without receiving damage
  • Turrets – They are deadlier than sentries, but require a player to man them
  • Weapon Locks – These allow you to store upto 4 weapons and replenish their ammo
  • Sentries and Shock Sentries – These automatically attack/stun enemies when they come under a certain radius
  • Repair Tool – This is required to repair the damaged fortifications and also replenish ammo for fortifications

Boss Battles

As mentioned earlier, you get a different boss after every 10TH wave. As with regular enemies, these bosses have increasing difficulty level and should not be taken lightly. These bosses are basically the same version as their Singleplayer Campaign versions and can be eliminated using the same strategies.

You can read out our Gears of War 4 Bosses Tips and Strategies Guide for more information on how to defeat them.
