Mafia 3 Requires GTX 1080 for 1080p/60 FPS

Mafia 3 is a poorly optimized PC game and would require a GTX 1080 to run at Full HD at 60 frames per second, according to new benchmarks.

Mafia 3 released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, there wasn’t much difference between all three versions in terms of frame rates. All three were locked at a solid 30 FPS.

But PC gamers needed more and wanted frame rate options. 2K Games released a patch that fixed this issue for gamers but little did we know, the game is poorly optimized for PC. It is safe to say that this was probably the reason why they locked in to 30 FPS in the first place.

Now that we have frame options we can see what the performance is like. Sadly, due to poor optimizations, you will need a very powerful rig to run the game at 60FPS on 1080p.

You will need a GTX 1080 to run the game at 60FPS at FULL HD.

Meanwhile, the recommended specs for Mafia 3 only mentioned a GTX 1060.

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Intel CPU: I5-2500K
  • AMD CPU: AMD FX-8120
  • RAM: 6GB
  • AMD GPU: Radeon HD7870
  • Nvidia GPU: GeForce GTX 660
  • Video Memory: 2GB
  • HD: 50GB (free space)

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Intel CPU: I7-3770
  • AMD CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.0 Ghz
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • AMD GPU: Radeon R9 290X
  • Nvidia GPU: GeForce GTX 780 or GeForce GTX 1060

Hangar 13 will have to release plenty of other updates to not only improve frame rate performance but also deal with a handful of glitches that plague the game.

Mafia 3 is a decent game but not the among the best of open world games. The Guardian went as far as calling it “boring.”
