It has been quite some time Square Enix has not shared any new detail regarding Kingdom Hearts 3, as the companny has shifted its focus towards the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8. However, those who are waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 should not be worried, as series creator and director has given an update on how the game is coming.
According to Kingdom Hearts series creator and director, Tetsuya Nomura, the game is in development and is coming along just fine.
The other game we are working on, Kingdom Hearts 3, is coming along steadily. There are new worlds in which you can run, jump… I’m very excited about moving Sora around in the wider space with his higher range of maneuverability.
Recently, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 director, Tai Yasue, discussed the the evolution of the series and its combat. According to him, the dev team has done a lot of experimentation with their handheld games, but with Kingdom hearts 2.8 they are returning to the basics.
With our handheld games, we did a lot of experimentation with new systems. With 0.2 and 2.8 we’re coming back to the basics, I guess, but at the same time, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 is sort of a continuation of Birth By Sleep. So we wanted to incorporate a lot of the moves from Birth By Sleep. Aqua’s magical spells, for example, and her style changes. We wanted to change toward an enhanced version of that.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but no release date is announced for the game, and is speculated that it will launch in 2017. So until Kingdom Hearts 3 releases, fans will have to make it work with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 which launches on January 12, 2017.
