Sony Had Nothing to Do With No Man’s Sky $60 Price

No Man's Sky $60 price was Hello Games' and it isn't right to blame Sony. The title should be been released via early access first.

No Man’s Sky has been the topic of hot debate over the past few days. We are hearing that Sean Murray may appear on Live with YouTube Gaming to discuss where things went wrong.

One of the issues we have with No Man’s Sky is its $60 price point. It is something many thought is due to Sony being the distributor of No Man’s Sky and it was the company’s decision to charge full price. However, that is not the case, according to Geoff Keighley.

During the first episode of Live with YouTube Gaming, Geoff Keighley addressed the controversy surrounding No Man’s Sky. He explained how Sean Murray enrolled us in a dream and probably talked about features without discussing it with his team to see if something like that was even possible.

No Man’s Sky was not worth $60 and it needed to be released as an Early Access game. From there, they should have built it based on community feedback.

Still, fans are ready to communicate and help the studio make No Man’s Sky better and in-line with the features that were discussed but never made it to the final build.

The platform we gave Sean Murray, us, the media and Sony, was probably too big for Hello Games. During Live With YouTube Gaming, Keighley said:

I don’t think No Man’s Sky is a bad game. It’s just unfinished and repetitive because let’s face it, games are crafted by skilled story-tellers and big teams. Math can’t always create meaning.

We all wanted to believe in No Man’s Sky and Sean did too – so much that he was never able to build up the gumption to rip off that band-aid and reveal what was and wasn’t in the game … maybe the platform we gave him to launch the game was too big and created this black hole that he couldn’t pull himself out of.

What we can all agree on is that Hello Games need to create a two way communication platform, come back and discuss the game and its futures once again.

We will have more updates for you regarding No Man’s Sky in the coming weeks.
