We may finally be getting a Nintendo NX reveal on October 21, provided that Nintendo keeps up the tradition of big reveals coming out during October on their Nintendo Directs. Previously, reveals for Mario Kart 7, Super Smash Bros Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and more had been revealed in October Directs.
The possibility of an October reveal for the console came from an interview with Nintendo Canada’s director of communications, Andrew Collins, who sat down with Gameskinny. During that interview, he implied that a Nintendo NX reveal would come on a Nintendo Direct, rather than waiting for E3 or some other big event like it.
Considering that this year is the fifth anniversary of Nintendo Direct (which started this month back in 2011, five years ago), if it’s true Nintendo would be killing two birds with one stone, announcing both its newest console and celebrating the birthday of the Nintendo Direct.
The Nintendo NX reveal will finally give us some concrete information about Nintendo’s newest console, which is supposed to be releasing in March of next year. While leaked patents and a number of other rumors have circulated and given what might be a few details about the console, we know very little (if anything) about the actual console.
These rumors range from a detachable handheld component, to possible ports of other triple A games, to Nintendo 3DS games being available to play on the console, but we won’t know anything for sure until the Nintendo NX reveal comes and gives us actual details on the console.
Either way, hopefully Collins’s statement turns out to be accurate and we may finally be seeing a Nintendo NX reveal this month. Considering that there’s only around six months until the console is supposed to be coming out, it had better come soon.
