Role playing games are massive in terms of their map sizes and how much time they take to complete. Such games are not everyone’s cup of tea and take dedication and time to complete.
Today, we will be listed down 10 of the biggest RPG games of all time.
Top 10 Biggest RPG Games
10 – Fallout 4
One of the biggest releases of 2015, Fallout 4 was Bethesda’s most ambitious game. The studio not only created a massive open world game but added hundreds of hours of gameplay content including main missions, side quests, and post-release DLC.
The open world of the game is 43mi2 which is just massive and takes forever to fully explore.
9 – Dragon Age: Inquisition
Released a couple of years ago, Dragon Age: Inquisition is the biggest open world created by Bioware to date. It clocks in at 45mi2. The entire world is filled with side quests, main missions, random events and much more. Bioware’s RPG was not only well received by critics but fans loved what the game had to offer.
To fully complete Dragon Age: Inquisition, it takes around 200 hours depending on your play style.
8 – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the greatest open world RPG game ever made in my opinion. Its open world is not only massive but is rich, vibrant and offers an experience like no other.
Geralt rides through the mountains into the swamps reaching the luxuries of Novigrad, avoiding the chaos of Velan the best he could, before going to Skellige.
The open world is 56 miles square.
7 – World of Warcraft
Well, who doesn’t know about World of Warcraft? The most loved MMO RPG title around for over a decade now. A massive ever growing open world filled with mysteries and things that are ready to kill you at a moment’s notice.
Azeroth is huge, 80 sq miles, and although it has changed so much over the years it still holds the magic we fell in love with.
6 – Star Wars Galaxies
The online role-playing game is one of my favorites, still better than Star Wars Battlefront, and features an open world that is huge.
200 sq miles of glory and war…Star Wars!
5 – Xenoblade Chronicles X
Xenoblade Chronicles X released on Wii U back in early 2015 and although I haven’t played the title, I have heard nothing but positive response from the community. The game was developed Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo for the Wii U.
The action role-playing game features 200 sq miles area.
4 – Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy XV is finally heading our way this year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game has been in development for over 10 years due to concept changes.
It originally started as Final Fantasy Versus XIII but sometime during 2012 it morphed into Final Fantasy XV.
The latest installment features a rich 800 square miles open world.
3 – The Crew
Ubisoft’s The Crew deserved more attention than it actually got. It was a game that did something different in a genre that was filed under “been there done that” category for a long time ago.
The Crew brought a fresh feel to the racing scene and allows players to join forces on a massive 1900 sq miles open world.
2 – Guild Wars Nightfall
It is hard to say exactly how many hours I put into this game and I don’t regret a minute of it. Guild Wars Nightfall is one of the biggest RPG games of all time and takes true dedication and commitment to complete.
15,000 sq miles!
1 – Xenoblade Chronicles
At the top of our list is another Xenoblade game that released back in 2010 for Wii. It features 70,000 sq miles area that will take a lifetime to explore.
