Gearbox CEO Confirms Battleborn Is Not Going F2P

When Gearbox released their new first person online shooter, Battleborn, they were expecting to replicate the success of Borderlands. However, their expectations shattered shortly after, and while the game did not sell well it is not necessarily a bad game, it just launched too closed to Overwatch.

However, recently rumors began to run wild on the internet that Gearbox is planning to make it a free to play game. But that is not the case, according to Gearbox. Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford, was not too pleased with the rumor, and issued a statement through his Twitter account that Battleborn is not going free to play, and also called the rumor reckless.

The statement came in response to earlier rumors from an inside source that Gearbox is planning to make Battleborn a free to play game and the announcement will be made in mid November.

While the free to play rumor has been discarded, Pitchford did revealed that the studio is planning a free trial for the game.

However, he did notified that the free trail is months away as the team is focused on preparing DLCs for Battleborn.

Battleborn is an online first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
