Gears of War 4 Campaign Mode Will Be Around 9 Hours Long

The Gears of War 4 campaign mode will be around 9 hours long, according to The Coalition, and that's if you play on Hardcore difficulty.

With Gears of War 4 coming out in around two weeks, more information about the actual game is starting to come from The Coalition. According to a recent interview from the French version of Gameblog, the Gears of War 4 campaign will be around 9 hours in length, or more depending on how good you are.

The campaign length is mainly dependent on players playing on the “Hardcore” difficulty, the third-highest difficulty setting that is seen as how the characters would really be fighting in the game. While not as difficult as the hardest difficulty, “Insane” (which will apparently be unlocked from the start), Hardcore is more difficult than the “Normal” and “Casual” difficulties.

Hardcore also has more of an encouragement to make you be careful; running out of health on Hardcore will cause you to die instantly, unlike the lower two difficulties that will just down you so that you can be picked up by another teammate (provided either the AI or the friends you’re playing with can get to you in time.)

If you’re one of those kinds of people that would play through the Gears of War 4 campaign multiple times in order to get every possible achievement in the game, Hardcore may likely pose one of the biggest challenges to you…before the actual “insane” difficulty, that is.

The reason that Hardcore is the recommended difficulty for the Gears of War 4 campaign is mainly because, according to The Coalition, Hardcore difficulty is where the game really shines.

In Hardcore difficulty players can make use of the game’s mechanics to get out of various situations, and where the game is difficult enough to make the players think for more creative solutions rather than just gunning everything down in a face-to-face gun battle.

If you’re one of those players that likes a challenge, you can look forward to playing through the Gears of War 4 campaign’s Hardcore difficulty on October 11.
