Psyonix Studios, the creators of the rocket-powered car soccer sports game Rocket League, have said that Rocket League Playstation 4 Pro support may be coming soon, adding yet another way that the game can spread its already very popular gameplay across much of the gaming world. The game is already on essentially every available console.
Psyonix has often said that there’s nothing they won’t due to continue to spread Rocket League to every available type of console. Several months ago, as the Playstation 4 Pro (previously known as the Playstation 4 Neo) first became known to the gaming community, the company’s vice president said that the only thing limiting whether or not Rocket League would get a 4K version would be the willingness of the developer to do it.
Considering that Psyonix has already done cross-platform play on Xbox One, PC, and even has it ready on Playstation 4 (they’re just waiting on Sony’s permission to implement it), Rocket League Playstation 4 Pro support probably wouldn’t take too long to put the game into anyway. The game even already looks good enough on current-gen consoles that updating the graphics likely wouldn’t be too much trouble.
While Psyonix doesn’t really have anything to announce yet, they are, however, still evaluating if it’s a good idea. Jeremy Dunham, Psyonix’s vice president, said that the company is looking at community interest, technical requirements, and other various factors.
If there will indeed be Rocket League Playstation 4 Pro support, it will give Rocket League something of an advantage not only in terms of casual games, but also over The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which won’t be getting a Playstation 4 Pro version because CD Projekt RED is working on Cyberpunk 2077 (and Witcher 3 already got a Game of the Year Edition several months ago).
Either way we’ll just have to wait and see if Rocket League comes to Playstation 4 Pro.
