TGS 2016 is upon and it has brought us a present!
Metal Gear Survive gameplay has been shared by Konami, a company struggling to maintain a positive image among the community. Unfortunately, the gameplay reveal won’t help with the situation. Metal Gear Survive is exactly what we thought it would be, a cheap ripoff that should not be named “Metal Gear.”
It would be a perfect fit as The Phantom Pain DLC but as a spin off game, it would find it hard to convince players for paying $30.
Every inch of the gameplay footage you see above is packed with reused assets from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Its character models, enemy movement animations, and map, all can be found inside The Phantom Pain. We already paid for these assets and now Konami is reshaping them to create a new experience for another $30.
In fact, if memory serve me right, even the idriod’s map layout design is reused and was part of Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes before many changes were made.
On its own, Survive would not have been the worst of ideas but it is in no way what the community wanted to see. The plot is not very well thought out as well.
Even by Metal Gear standards, this plot feels like taking things too far in terms of believability. Yes, believability! Somehow it is easier to imagine a man controlling bees than seeing portal and zombies in Metal Gear universe.
Still, there is sometime before the game comes out so Konami needs to show much more to convince buyers.
What do you think of Metal Gear Survive gameplay? It is worthy of the name? Take to the comments and let us know.
