New Star Wars Battlefront Death Star Trailer Shows Death Star Mode

A new Star Wars Battlefront Death Star trailer has been released by EA and DICE, showing off what all players will be doing when the DLC comes out. Death Star will be the latest DLC in the first-person shooter, and will be the first to finally bring space battles back to the Battlefront series.

Space battles were a much-hoped for game mode in the period before the game came out, but quickly became a criticism after release when the game was revealed to have no space battles, only the Fighter Squadron mode which many took as a poor substitute. Now, along with a map that takes place inside the Death Star itself, players will have two different space maps to fly around in.

The Battlefront Death Star trailer tells how this new mode (entitled “Battle Station“) will go: on a daring mission to the Death Star, Rebel fighter pilots will first have to break through the Imperial ships blocking the way to the station, with the Rebels trying to destroy a Star Destroyer to open the way, while Imperial fighters defend it.

Next, Rebel troops land aboard the Death Star in order to extract a particular droid (played here by everyone’s favorite robot R2-D2.) This particular mode will include two new heroes: Chewbacca the Wookie and Bossk, the Trandoshan bounty hunter.

Thirdly, Rebel ships will then fly along the surface of the Death Star in order to get to the exhaust port that will allow them to destroy the station.

In addition to Chewbacca and Bossk, the Battlefront Death Star trailer reveals that Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will also be playable in the space sections, piloting an X-wing and a TIE Advanced X-1 fighter, respectively.

The Death Star expansion will be releasing on September 20 for Season Pass owners, and October 4 for everyone else.
