Private Crucible matches in Destiny will finally be available starting tomorrow, according to an email sent out by Bungie that talks about the rise of private matches. The private matches will have the ability to let players play 18 different game modes on over 30 maps.
One of the first few criticisms of Destiny when it came out was a lack of any real private games in the Crucible setting, forcing you to play with other randos instead of having something like one-on-one gunfights with either you and one friend or a team-based fight between you and a whole clan of other Guardians. Now, however, that will be coming to a close.
The private Crucible matches will only be available on current-gen consoles (that’s Playstation 4 and Xbox One) due to them also being a part of Rise of Iron, so if you’re still on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 you had best find a way to upgrade and fast (maybe buy one of the new Slim consoles?), because once Rise of Iron comes out you won’t be getting any more support for the game.
Players on last-generation consoles also won’t be able to play the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris game modes, as everything notable is moving to the next generation.
Destiny’s new Rise of Iron expansion will be coming out on Tuesday of next week, and will be adding a ton of new content to the game in a similar matter to the Taken King expansion. Players can expect new weapons and armor, new Crucible maps, new raids, new strikes, and a new storyline that will take players into the Plaguelands, a devastated part of Old Russia. There, and atop the mountain of Felwinter Peak, they’ll discover the secrets of the Iron Lords, and what brought about their downfall.
Rise of Iron will only be coming out for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, so last-gen players don’t have much time left before they’ll get left behind in the dust.
