Playstation 4 Update 4.0 Will Launch Tomorrow, September 13

Playstation 4 Update 4.0, the newest update for the Playstation 4 console, will be coming out tomorrow for Playstation 4 consoles. The update will add a variety of new features to the console, including the ability to transfer data from the Playstation 4 to the Playstation 4 Pro, a quick menu for music, and a number of other adjustments.

The update has been in beta and alpha for a number of weeks now, but it seems like Playstation is finally ready to release it.

Playstation 4 update 4.0 will be coming out before the Playstation 4 Slim and the Playstation 4 Pro, the newest iterations of the Playstation 4, will be releasing later this month and in November, respectively. The Playstation 4 Pro in particular will be benefiting from the update the most, as it will allow the console a better way to produce high-resolution content to take advantage of its 4K resolution capabilities.

The update will give the Playstation 4 Pro 1080p streaming for Remote Play on PC/Mac and compatible Xperia devices, 1080p streaming for Share Play, 1080p 30/60fps live broadcasting on YouTube, 1080p 30fps live broadcasting on Twitch, and High Dynamic Range (HDR), all to help the Playstation 4 Pro be able to play games at high graphics levels.

The new consoles aren’t the only ones getting high-dynamic range in graphics. Every Playstation 4, including the ones that were first sold back in 2013, will also get the ability to use HDR when the update comes out.

In addition to the video adjustments, Playstation 4 update 4.0 will be adding re-designs to the “What’s New” menu and the Content Info screen. The What’s New menu has been redesigned and will show you information about what your other Playstation friends have been doing online. The Content Info screen will hep you be able to quickly and easily move through various functions on the Playstation 4 and even go to the Playstation 4.

So when the update comes out, you’ll likely have to wait a while before you can play the game depending on how big the update is, but hopefully the quality of life improvements that will be coming along with it will be worth it.
