The Last Guardian has been delayed once again due to numerous bugs discovered during the final stages of development, Sony has announced.
Originally scheduled to release on Oct. 25, 2016, The Last Guardian will now release on Dec. 09, 2016 in the UK and Ireland and on Dec. 07, 2016 across Europe.
The Last Guardian Delayed Yet Again
In a recent blogpost on the Playstation Blog, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida wrote that the studio discovered more bugs than anticipated during the final stages of development which caused the delay:
A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.
Keeping the wonderful vision for The Last Guardian intact, the development team decided to push the release date to December 2016 to further polish the game for fans who have supported the game for so long:
Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long.
Our development continues to push itself to the fullest and we look forward to revealing new content towards the launch. We appreciate your continued support.
Those of you who have waited for years, what’s a few more months, right? Greatness Awaits, fellas!
