Since the Playstation 4 Pro was finally announced at the Playstation Meeting earlier this week, it’s basically common sense that Playstation 4 Pro games are going to have some new stuff on them that people might be looking for. Fortunately, Playstation has that covered, and will have tags that will let you know if a game is enhanced by being on the Pro.
The icon, a simple “PS4 Pro Enhanced” sticker on the packaging of Playstation 4 Pro games, will let you know just by looking at it that it’s gotten several enhancements that will help it to look even better on the Playstation 4 Pro.
Games with the sticker will be able to support the console’s increased power, with its 4K resolution, better graphics, and higher processing power that will do things like smooth out the framerate and have HDR support.
The sticker won’t, however, tell you exactly how Playstation 4 Pro games will be enhanced by the console’s hardware. You’ll likely have to rely on the developers to tell you that, but hopefully it’ll also be on the packaging, or on a readily available website.
The Playstation 4 Pro still has a while to go until it comes out (November 10 of this year to be specific) but that just gives developers plenty of time to work on how to improve their games for the console before it releases. For studios that develop games for both Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles, it could also help them get some practice in on how to make sure their games run on 4K before the Xbox One Scorpio comes out in March of next year.
While the Playstation 4 Pro doesn’t have as many teraflops as the Scorpio (4.2 compared to the 6 that the Scorpio has), that doesn’t mean that it won’t put out good image quality that will surpass most consoles available today.
