PlayStation fans have been waiting for Fallout 4 PS4 mod support for a long time. Today, Bethesda released an update regarding mod support and unfortunately, we have some bad news.
According to Bethesda, Fallout 4 PS4 mod support is cancelled. The studio revealed that they have been in discussion with Sony but the company denied their request for approving PS4 mod support in Fallout 4.
Bethesda explained in a post on its official website:
After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.
Bethesda will provide us an update when and if the situation changes in any way. For now, Fallout 4 PS4 mod support is no longer coming. The entire project and work put into it is scrapped.
Xbox One mod support was released awhile back and of course, PC users already have this available to them. Sony is yet to comment on the matter but we will let you know if the company shares anything.
