Mass Effect: Andromeda is running at 30FPS on PS4 Pro and the standard PS4. The news comes from Producer Fabrice Condominas via an interview with GameSpot.
The article only mentioned 30FPS without any resolution. Is Mass Effect: Andromeda running at 30FPS at 1080p or PS4 Pro or is the 30FPS frame cap only for 4K?
We already know that PS4 Pro can offer better performance at 1080p so we may see better frame rates on FullHD. The footage we saw at E3 was pre-alpha so we should rule better frame rates out just yet.
PS4 Pro comes with 4.2 TFLOPS which is more than enough for 60FPS at 1080p. However, Sony made it clear that it is completly up to the developer how they handle the game’s code for different resolutions.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will also support HDR with PS4 Pro while running at 4K. However, keep in mind that you will need a display that supports 4K and HDR to benefit from this feature.
Speaking of HDR, Sony is releasing an update that will add HDR to all existing PS4 units in the market. 40 million consoles are getting HDR support, while Microsoft’s HDR feature is limited to Xbox One S. It would be interesting to see how Sony achieves HDR on a console with HDMI 1.4.
Anyways, Mass Effect: Andromeda’s next big reveal is coming on November 7, according to EA. We will get to see more of the game and hopefully, clear the ambiguity surrounding its frame rate at different resolutions.
Andromeda is releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and PC in early 2017. We expect to hear a release date announcement on November 7.
