Nintendo NX is releasing in March 2017, according to Nintendo’s financial reports. The console itself is mystery and is yet to be revealed by the Japanese giant. However, Nintendo is already offering us a chance to get out hands on a unit for free.
But it won’t be easy as you will need to get really, really good at Splatoon.
Nintendo is partnering with eSports giant ESL to host a Go4Splatoon tournament. The event will consist of 6 month season of hardcore Splatoon action. The tournament will end in March 2017, around the release of Nintendo NX. This means that the winner won’t be getting his/her hands on the console early.
The very first match is being held on Sunday at 4pm. Weekly points will be rewarded to players for access to a European monthly final.
You can sign up for the tournament here.
Nintendo NX is the successor to Wii U and Nintendo is content on not repeating past mistakes with their new machine. According to Reggie Fils-Amie:
We have to do a better job helping people to understand its uniqueness and what that means for the game playing experience. And we have to do a better job from a software planning standpoint to have that continuous beat of great new games that are motivating more and more people to pick up the hardware and more and more people to pick up the software.
Nintendo NX is shaping up to be a very enticing machine and rumor has it that a special event is being held following TGS to reveal NX.
